The cornerstone of the technology is a novel battery optimized for stationary storage applications with a targeted commercial release of 2013 in applications such as micro-grid support, off-grid generator optimization, and grid-level energy services.

 

Job Opportunity:

The Process engineer will develop and support manufacturing operations. The position forms part of the Technical Engineering Team but will work closely in cross-functional teams within the Manufacturing Department. The primary responsibility will be to develop, document and trial end-to-end manufacturing processes for company’s Energy’s Battery Technology. The process engineer will work under the Technical Engineering Manager. 


Responsibilities:

- Apply leadership skills to effect process changes in a dynamic team environment.
- Use lean and manufacturing engineering principles.
- Drive continuous improvement
- Update and maintain documentation such as material balances, P&IDs and automation functional descriptions
- Create and conduct test validation plans to qualify new or improved materials, processes, or products.
- Design and implement process and production control methods, including identification, tracking and analysis of key process variables.
- Establish and document manufacturing processes in support of new products and design changes.
- Assist with the design and implementation of custom manufacturing equipment.
- Coordinate troubleshoot manufacturing process and equipment issues as they arise.
- Construct and execute controlled experiments including DOE and Gage R & R.
- Create and implement data collection using manila and automated tools.
- Set up and manage SPC Tools. 
- Lead Lean activities such as Kaizen, 5S, Poke-Yoke etc.
- Conduct FMEA exercises.
- Develop Process Control Plans.
- Direct the activities of cross functional teams.
- Participate in work force training and development.
- Participate in planning for commissioning & start-up.
- All other duties as assigned
 
Qualifications:

- BS Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in engineering.
- Experience in automated assembly preferred.
- Proven abilities in statistical tools (SPC, Gage R & R, DOE, etc) to analyze and solve - manufacturing problems and for continuous improvement efforts.

- Previous experience/certification in lean manufacturing highly desirable.
- Previous experience with Six Sigma desirable.
  
Travel requirements:
- Domestic and International Travel to suppliers, trade fairs and other sites will be required on an occasional basis.

Technical professional who develops and improves business processes to increase efficiency by “hands-on” involvement through constraint analysis, improve quality, and boost profits of the organization in the manufacturing sector. This position is responsible for providing the overall process design and suggesting measures for improvement of manufacturing, thereby increasing productivity and improving manufacturing costs.

 

Responsibilities:

- Plan, direct and coordinate manufacturing processes in a bus assembly plant.

- Conducts constraint analysis and implements improvements to alleviate prioritized constraints in manufacturing processes.

- Develop, evaluate and improve manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods and quality control standards.

- Estimate production times, staffing requirements and related costs to provide information for management decisions.

- Confer with management, engineering and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules and other considerations to facilitate production processes.

- Apply statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential. 

- Work with equipment designers and manufacturing officers to develop a cost-effective and working production process of the new product.

- Set detailed specifications and implement production plans.

- Oversee process design projects and make sure the projects are completed on time

- Research and purchase new manufacturing technology, work in collaboration with the engineering department to better production equipment functionality.

- Other duties as assigned.

 

Education and Experience:

- BS in Engineering (mechanical or electrical) plus a minimum of 5 years related work experience in automotive manufacturing environment

- Green Belt/ Black Belt certification preferred

- Design for manufacturing experience required

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

- Expert level of understanding of lean manufacturing concepts.

- Strong functional “hands on” experience in a manufacturing environment.

- GD&T knowledge required

- Process design & layout experience

- Knowledge of basic Hydraulic, Pneumatic, electro-mechanical systems required

Our client is an independent power producer operating electrical generation facilities throughout the U.S. The company continues to significantly expand its portfolio of Wind Energy operations across the country.

 

Responsibilities:

- Follow safety procedures and safe working practices to maintain a safe working environment.

- Perform safety related duties such as issuing or accepting work authorizations, hot work permits, confined space entry permits, etc.

- Perform high voltage switching at voltages up to 230kV as instructed using approved switching orders

- Service, calibrate, troubleshoot and repair automated control systems, including SCADA systems, instrumentation and electrical equipment up to 230kV.

- Service, calibrate, troubleshoot, repair and maintain plant meteorological stations and associated equipment

- Maintain drawings, specifications, test logs and other records.

- Research equipment manuals and requisition repair parts.

- Read, write and understand log books, work orders, procedures, timesheets, expense reports, requisitions and other documentation as required.

- Tutor, instruct, train, and assist other personnel as required. Travel for training and/or other company business. This includes travel by automobile and commercial airlines.

- Operate company vehicles including trucks, forklifts and other mobile equipment.

- Perform plant housekeeping functions

- Perform other duties as directed.

- Work rotating or alternate shift schedule and overtime as required.

 

Qualifications:

- Must have a general understanding of electrical power generation. Must possess a thorough knowledge of electronic, electrical and mechanical instrumentation associated with complex analog and digital control systems. Must possess a good understanding of operating procedures, environmental and safety rules and regulations, and first aid procedures.

- Must be skilled in the use of test equipment for the detection and repair of faulty instrument and control devices.  Must be skilled in interpreting and following technical instruction furnished in oral, written, diagrammatic and schedule form.  Skilled in reading and interpreting blueprints, electrical diagrams, technical manuals and logic diagrams. Skilled in performing mathematical calculations to analyze and solve problems related to control process. Skilled in the use of personal computers, test gauges, digital multi-meters, oscilloscopes, and specialized test equipment such as manometers, potentiometers, conductivity bridges and signal generators and various hand tools.

- Must demonstrate the ability to successfully function as a member and/or leader of a team and to effectively communicate orally and in writing.

- Must possess a valid driver’s license.

- Must be able to maintain a professional and positive company image and positive relationships with owners, customers, internal contractors and external contractors.

- Required to routinely work from a step stool, portable ladder and occasionally climb vertical stationary ladders over 250 feet.

- Able to work at heights greater than 250 feet.

- Able to climb vertical meteorological towers open to the environment at heights greater than 250 feet.

- Able to climb vertical stationary ladders inside wind turbine towers at heights greater than 250 feet.

- Required to work in confined spaces that require employee to reach by stooping and/or crawling through tight clearances, or by lying down.

- Some confined spaces can be accessed only by lowering oneself into the space feet first, after first removing a hatch weighing from 10 to 25 pounds.

- Routinely required to stand for extended periods of time and to walk over uneven surfaces such as loose rock, open grating, and up and down staircases.

- Required to carry calibration tools and hand tools generally weighing up to 30 pounds. Instruments may be irregularly shaped, and can weigh up to 75 pounds.  May be required to lift cylinders that contain high-pressured gases or compressed air, and are 4 to 5 feet in height and may weigh up to 75 pounds.

- Work may involve threading and bending conduits and tubing, in addition to pulling wire bundles up to 1” diameter through conduits.  Wire termination may require long periods of kneeling.  Large electrical breakers may need to be manually pulled and pushed to complete work.

- Repair responsibilities may include locating and correcting electrical grounds at voltages up to 230kV.  When installing high voltage grounds, the employee will lift ground connections overhead on poles. Overhead work may require the employee to carry and move portable ladders and/or work from mobile equipment.

- High voltage switching responsibilities will include using a hot stick and reaching overhead to open and close disconnects.  High voltage switching will also include the ability to use a rotary gang-operated disconnect continuously without stopping until disconnects are fully open or fully closed

- Employee may be required to work long periods of time on a computer terminal.

- Able to work in adverse outdoor weather conditions with summer temperatures greater than 100 degrees F and winter temperatures less than 0 degrees F.

- Employee may be required to work flexible work hours.

- Approximately 70% outdoors, balance inside.

 

Experience:

- Must possess a minimum of three years of experience in the troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of instrumentation, electrical and control systems at a power plant or similar industrial setting.

 - SCADA system experience preferred.

 

Education:

- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.

- Completion of a formal apprenticeship program or equivalent combination of work experience and technical training required.

- Associates Degree from technical school is desired.

- ISA CCST (Certified Control Systems Technician) to level II or higher preferred.

- SCADA system experience preferred.
