Job Summary

The Deputy Director will assume the day-to-day lead for managing Renew Missouri’s advocacy work. The Deputy Director will motivate the organization’s employees, interns and consultants to produce consistent positive moving towards the realization of Renew Missouri’s Vision and Mission.  The Deputy Director will act as a liaison between Renew Missouri and a variety of individuals and organizations working to affect Missouri’s energy policy, and will be expected to stay motivated, meet deadlines, fundraise money and build coalitions.

 

Responsibilities:

·       Fundraising: Raise substantial funds through major, medium, and small-donor programs, as well as foundation grant acquisition and procurement.

·       Staff Management: Keep the team motivated, productive, and goal-oriented, and assist in employee hiring, orientation and ongoing training.

·       Fiscal Management: Ensure ongoing expenses and income are processed timely and accurately.

·       Coalition-Building: Build support for Renew Missouri’s mission within energy stakeholder organizations, such as clean technology businesses, consumer groups and environmental protection organizations.

·       Policy Promotion: Represent policy priorities and positions to decision-makers, (ie legislators, regulators, and courts), promoting defense of existing clean energy policy and creation of strong new policy.

·       Work in close communication with the Director, and perform other duties as assigned.

 

Job Qualifications:

·       Successful track record of major donor and foundation fundraising, employee recruitment and management.

·       A strong passion for advancing renewable energy and energy efficiency in Missouri

·       A strong affinity for meaningful advocacy work, which often involves tedious coalition building and confrontation of opposition

·       A good fit with the values of the organization

·       Experience in advocacy at the state level, with municipal and/or federal advocacy experience a plus

·       Positive attitude, professional workmanship and appearance, detail oriented and self-starter with a results-driven work ethic.

 

Supervision:

·       This position reports to the Director of Renew Missouri

 

Working Conditions:

·       Full-time salaried position, located in Columbia, MO

·       Sometimes frequent travel to Kansas City, St. Louis, Jefferson City, Springfield and other locations

·       Flexible, positive, supportive work environment. Some work will be done remotely, and sometimes outside the normal 9-5 work day

 

Salary and Benefits:

·       Salary $45,000-$65,000 DOE. Full health benefits, including vision & dental, 403b, vacation, and training

·       Computer and phone provided

Scope of Position: This position is responsible for supervising and operating the plant in a safe, environmentally sound and efficient manner. In addition; communicate objectives, train, direct and evaluate assigned personnel in accordance with Company policies and government regulations. In the absence of Plant Management the Shift Supervisor is the senior most representative of the facility. This position will be responsible for direct supervision of the Auxiliary Operator, Fuel Supply Operator and other employees in the absence of management during shift operations.

Responsibilities: • Ensure the performance and record keeping of required daily plant operations activities. Including equipment readings, inspections and testing. • Operation of distributed control systems. • Monitor systems to ensure proper operations, perform routine equipment safety checks and inspections. • Take measurements and readings and compare with standards; implement corrective actions within established procedures. • Perform routine evaluations of boiler, cooling tower, demineralizer, and RO unit water chemistry and make necessary changes to chemical feed systems to ensure continued plant operation. • Inspect and monitor environmental equipment and make appropriate notifications. • Identify and correct problems; report problems requiring further action to Maintenance. • Maintain plant operating records and logs. • Respond to alarms in a timely manner; operate firefighting equipment as necessary and within reason. • Oversee the work of other crafts on assigned shift as necessary. • Performs other comparable non-operating duties during plant shutdowns. • Maintain professional competence in the field of power plant operations. • Maintain a safe work environment though job planning, housekeeping and identification and correction of hazards. • Adhere to all applicable health & safety, environmental and administrative policies, procedures and regulations. • Must follow proper event notification and communication protocols to management and regulatory agencies as applicable. • Answers the telephone when necessary in a professional manner and serves as a focal point for communications during emergency situations. • Attend morning, monthly and quarterly meetings. • Attend training, implement and pursue personal development goals. • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: • Valid Driver license. • 12 years formal education (High School Graduate) or equivalent. • Five to Ten years prior Power / Process plant experience in a supervisory role; preferably with biomass or other solid fuels. • Ability to productively work independently and as an overall integral team member. • Must have strong communication skills and the ability to effectively organize and facilitate process teams. • Ability to understand contractual issues as they relate to plant operations and maintenance. • Travel to other plant locations and to corporate may be required. • Knowledge in Balance of Plant systems start-up, normal operation, emergency, and shutdown of plant. • Thorough knowledge of equipment isolation and LOTO procedures. • Experience responding to plant abnormal situations, alarms, and emergencies. • Thorough knowledge of the location, purpose and proper use of the plant safety equipment. • Experience aligning, switching, isolating, and paralleling electrical equipment and systems • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical one-lines, logic drawings, technical manuals and P&ID's.
