Description:
Our client is an innovative electric vehicle design and manufacturer looking for a
Director of Utility Storage Engineering who will provide technical leadership and
organizational management for utility scale stationary energy storage applications. This
manager will work closely with a team of engineers and coordinate cross-functionally with
other departments to successfully launch container based stationary energy storage
products and coordinate accordingly to bring them to market. The Director will be
responsible for all aspects of engineering, design, validation, and demonstration builds.
This individual will be the leader of engineering for utility scale products in their
stationary energy storage division, which is focused on the development of container based
energy storage systems, intended for grid interconnection. These products are intended to
support peak shaving, renewable integration, and frequency regulation. This individual
will report to the Vice President, Engineering –Energy Storage.
Responsibilities:
- Lead design coordination and issue resolution across functional engineering areas.
- Oversee quality, readiness, and validation.
- Manage interfaces issues between structure, HVAC, software, power conversion, and
battery systems.
- Secure external suppliers and manage those relationships
- Support contract negotiations as needed
- Manage subsystem design teams throughout integration and to final delivery
- Generate and maintain timing project plans for design, development and production phases
in support of overall program timing
- Generate and maintain timing plans for the design, development and production phases in
order to support product timing.
- Communicate program status, analysis, and any test results to Design engineers and
management
Requirements:
- BS or MS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering,
- MBA preferred
- Minimum 10 years of proven experience as an integration leader in grid tie and energy
storage
- Thorough understanding of utility interface and grid storage applications
- Strong interest in all details of battery systems
- Ability to think laterally and develop innovative solutions
