Description:
We are recruiting for an Embedded Control HW and SW Engineer, Staff Engineer. This role is that of a resident expert, and as such, the right candidate will be a key member in the new Engineering organization in North America.

Responsibilities:
The position will be free of direct people or project management responsibilities as to be free to focus on the following key responsibilities:
- Resident expert in the area of embedded control hardware and software/firmware open to consultation by design/project team colleagues and upper management.
- Key contributor during the conceptual stage for new R&D projects, including the prototyping phase.
- Keep up to date on the latest technologies and solutions in the area of expertise and helps introduce them into the rest of the global organization.
- Mentor and help develops the level of know-how and general competence in the R&D organization.
- Last line of defense for the most challenging design problems.
- Develop and manage the Open Innovation network of experts and partners.
- Key contributor to the organization technology roadmaps.
- Help develop the R&D organization during its aggressive growth stages.

Qualifications:
Love of learning, innovative and creative lateral thinking, multitasking, passion for product design and engineering, team work, flexibility, energy, willingness to explore latest innovation techniques, committed to meeting personal commitments, plus:
- Master or PH.D. degree in Electrical Engineering - focus on Power Electronics a plus.
- At least 8 years of combined hands-on relevant experience in the development of embedded control hardware and software/firmware in power electronic converters - medium to high power inverters a plus.
- At least 6 years of hands-on experience in designing mixed-signal control boards for power electronic converters, including complex FPGA development – ASIC experience a plus.
- Demonstrated competence in DFM, DFT, reliability analysis, PWB layout, and EMC design.
- At least 3 years hands-on experience in developing microcontroller firmware for DSP and control applications for power electronic converters – experience in industrial network protocols a plus.
- Good understanding of rapid prototyping tools and algorithms for real-time digital control of power converters – Matlab/Simulink and hardware-in-loop (HIL) knowledge a plus.
- Expertise in control theory, and experience with modeling , analysis, and simulation tools for power electronics and digital control.
- Demonstrated innovation and technical leadership as evidenced by publications and patents.
- Industrial product development experience a plus.
- Renewable Energy experience, including North American standards, a plus.
