Job Details:
Position Responsibilities:
Construction, operation, design, and installation of bench, pilot, and/or commercial
processes including:
1. Procurement and specification of process system components;
2. Process development and design of block flow diagrams, process & instrumentation
diagrams, and process flow diagrams using Visio and/or AutoCAD; and
3. Process simulation and modeling using Aspen, CHEMCAD (or related software) and
4. Heat Transfer and Thermodynamic studies.
Perform and maintain mass and energy balances as they pertain to process and equipment
design.
Fabrication and design of prototypes of new equipment/systems of related parts.
Work with other engineers (electrical, architecture, mechanical, structural/civil,
automation, instrumental, etc.) internally and externally to guarantee a coordinated
design and completion of engineering deliverables.
Data analysis and interpretation, data collection, and report writing. Training in
statistical process control methodologies preferable.
Plan the best possible process for moving lab and/or pilot production phase processes
into the industrial processing on a large-scale.
Work with customers, management, and vendors to resolve technical issues, define project
scope, and work with the preparation of procurement documents.
Select and size materials, equipment, and process systems.
Check vendor drawings to guarantee the accuracy of the design and that it complies with
specifications.
Activities relating to constructions support, such as responding to RFIs and
submittals.
Execute, design, and analyze both comparative and screening experiments with lab
personnel.
Experience and Skills:
BS or MS in Chemical Engineering or a related field in engineering with at least 8 years
of experience in development or commercial engineering.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of chemistry and/or engineering principles and the creation of
applications.
Working knowledge of industrial or chemical engineering or process design techniques
