Job Opportunity:
Technical professional who develops and improves business processes to increase
efficiency by “hands-on” involvement through constraint analysis, improve
quality, and boost profits of the organization in the manufacturing sector. This position
is responsible for providing the overall process design and suggesting measures for
improvement of manufacturing, thereby increasing productivity and improving manufacturing
costs.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, direct and coordinate manufacturing processes in a bus assembly plant.
- Conducts constraint analysis and implements improvements to alleviate prioritized
constraints in manufacturing processes.
- Develop, evaluate and improve manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product
design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment
capabilities, assembly methods and quality control standards.
- Analyze and plan work force utilization, space requirements and workflow, and design
layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
- Lead 1st article manufacturing validation activity for design changes.
- Strong voice for new product design for manufacturability.
- Confer with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure
efficient production methods.
- Confer with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of
equipment, materials or parts, and evaluate products according to specifications and
quality standards.
- Estimate production times, staffing requirements and related costs to provide
information for management decisions.
- Confer with management, engineering and other staff regarding manufacturing
capabilities, production schedules and other considerations to facilitate production
processes.
- Apply statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and
potential.
- Work with equipment designers and manufacturing officers to develop a cost-effective
and working production process of the new product.
- Set detailed specifications and implement production plans.
- Oversee process design projects and make sure the projects are completed on time
- Research and purchase new manufacturing technology, work in collaboration with the
engineering department to better production equipment functionality.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- BS in Engineering (mechanical or electrical) plus a minimum of 5 years related work
experience in automotive manufacturing environment
- Green Belt/ Black Belt certification preferred
- Design for manufacturing experience required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Expert level of understanding of lean manufacturing concepts.
- Strong functional “hands on” experience in a manufacturing
environment.
- GD&T knowledge required
- Process design & layout experience
- Knowledge of basic Hydraulic, Pneumatic, electro-mechanical systems required
- Knowledge of APQP, PFMEA, Process Flow, Control Plan
- Knowledge of ISO/ TS required
- Self-starter and works with minimum supervision
