For more than 35 years, my client has provided energy conservation measures and HVAC solutions to their customers throughout California. The in-house staff includes a team of engineers, project managers, control specialists, installers and an experienced service division.



Primary Function

This role serves as the technical resources to the sales and operations teams responsible for identifying and understanding the energy and mechanical related issues within a client’s facility. This role will work with the team to make a site evaluation and develop a comprehensive and cost-effective technical solution that will increase the operational and energy efficiency of the client facility. More specifically this role will provide technical analysis of existing building systems, identify potential retrofit and energy conservation measures, perform energy use and savings analysis, direct and perform engineered solutions and support field installation efforts.



Responsibilities

- Contributes to the profitable growth of the company and recommends a technical approach to the service offering that will increase market share and exceed client expectations.

- Gather data and drawings of existing buildings to be used in the development of comfort, cost and energy use baselines. Create or review and issue valid drawings and other engineering documents to field forces.

- While this position doesn’t have direct reports, it will act in a supervisory capacity and guide and direct resources in the organization and provide leadership to the team.

- Prepare designs for field built mechanical, electrical, controls, lighting, etc., as required. - - May include researching vendor data for customized products. Prepare energy use and savings calculations for identified improvements utilizing state of the art computer modeling tools.

- Identify and select most advantages utility rebate and incentive programs for use in financial models. Work with customers in the development and submittal of rebate applications.

- Determines feasibility and recommends course of action, including assessment of opportunity and risk areas.

- Resolves problems that may arise after project completion in meeting the energy guarantee and efficiency matters. Provides counsel on areas where the client could improve their operations and possible savings to the client.



Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience

Education/Experience: Four year business or technical degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred. Masters in Engineering preferred. Minimum 5 - 7 years of related engineering experience. Experience in commercial and industrial energy engineering, utility cost analysis and facilities management preferred.

o HVAC retrofit design and progressive energy experience preferred.

o Professional Engineer (PE) license, required

o Certified Energy Manager (CEM) preferred.

o Strong project management experience 3-5 years required.

Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Math Ability: Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office projects. Computer proficiency is required. Should understand the Energy Savings model and preferably EQuest.

Other Requirements:

o Advanced knowledge of construction, energy conservation, design, applicable codes, standards, required. Good working knowledge of and language used in relevant market.

o Ability to analyze and resolve complex engineering problems is required.

o Must possess excellent communication (verbal and written) skills. Strong presentation skills required.

o Position is highly visible to potential customers and requires the ability to influence/persuade. Sales experience preferred.
