Job Details:
JOB PURPOSE
The COO is responsible for the operational and procedural backbone of the company. This
encompasses the combined operational management of the projects in the company as well as
providing of support functions for the entire organisation.
This involves both setting up, implementing and managing operational / project related
processes, with the support of the regional operational Directors, as well as overseeing
the management of the support processes such as Finance, Procurement and IT.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
Masters degree in Engineering, ideally combined with business degree / education and
experience
WORK EXPERIENCE:
10+ years experience in operational management of engineering companies, which at least 5
in multinational companies, at least 3 in wind, on in engineering services.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Fluent in German and English
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE:
Operational technical knowledge; able to engage in a factual service discussion on
project-level.
Global project experience; able to tackle operational issues when needed.
Operational financial knowledge, able to present financials externally
At ease with exposure to advisory councils and external shareholders.
BUSINESS UNDERSTANDING:
Thorough understanding of the international business environment, with specific exposure
to service engineering business

Hands on person, not a ´consultative approach´, but a ´doer´
Experience and apt to deal with service technicians and engineers at all levels
Entrepreneurial mindset, matched with sharp intellect and finance technical knowledge

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Designs, rolls out, implements and manages policies, processes and tools for the
continuous improvement of processes and projects, without hindering the operational
project responsible in their day-to-day work.
2. Manages in their own team a series of diagnostic tools to keep abreast of the situation
in the company, both financially, operational, as well as procedural. Support the P&L
responsible with these tools, by gathering the data and entering it into the tools,
communicates on a regular basis with the P&L responsible on the information these
tools provide and advises and support implementation of improvement opportunities.
3. Review, analysis and lead process to implement shared best practices in the areas of
responsibility. Initiates improvement tracks together with peers to allow broad basis for
needed changes
4. Ensures the company´s financial data and reporting is accurate, up to speed and
up to the need of those in need of this data (internal: P&L responsible, project
leads, external Legal parties, Beirat and shareholders).
5. Provide short and long term strategic leadership from a global perspective in the areas
of:
· Set up global financial strategy to support the growth trajectory depicted in the
Global strategic plan.
· Set up project management stage gate model, through the project management
specialist
· Set up and implement professional IT support and infrastructure, both Global,
regional and local.
Contracts with external partners, relating to the above
Works closely with the regional operational directors to ensure operations work in
synchronicity across the regions, and there is smooth coordination between project
management and operations & finance.
Special Features
The organisations is a small entrepreneurial led and run business, with the requirements
and need for structure of a multinational. This paradox needs to be managed, e.g. a person
who is knowledgeable enough to make this leap, whereas down to earth enough to work with
all parties involved.
Deeper involvement in operational processes as well as operational guidance on project
level is expected.
