Our client is an independent technology and consulting company in renewable energy and
energy efficiency. The company offers expert technical guidance and due diligence services
for project developers, utilities and financial institutions. Additionally they offer a
suite of software services that enhance the performance of renewable energy plants,
facilitate the implementation of smart grids and assess the energy efficiency improvements
in buildings. With a track record in advising corporate and public authorities on
sustainable energy technology, policy and markets.
Its clients include renewable energy project developers, energy utilities, architectural
offices, suppliers in the construction markets, maintenance companies, financial
institutions and regional and international public authorities.
The Job:
i-LAB is a business unit that coordinates its research and development activities aiming
at short and medium term evolutions of consultancy and software services. Amongst others,
i-LAB develops tools for integrating renewables in the classical grid management.
Within i-LAB, you will be in charge of projects for the grid integration of distributed
renewables. Your work is situated between applied research and real-world electrical power
engineering:
•Interaction of distributed generation with the grid
•Leading innovation, development and implementation of intelligent grid management
strategies and tools (smart grids)
•Leading innovation, development and application of software-based services for
intelligent grid management with renewables (related to the topics above)
•Follow-up and participate in international relevant R&D projects in order to
translate R&D project results in added value for products and services.
•Organisation and communication: planning of work together with project partners and
the team.
Profile:
•Master degree in electrical power engineering (minimum 4 years), or similar through
experience
•Minimum 4 years relevant work experience, e.g., with a grid operator, in industry
grids, in power system consultancy or related
•Strong interest in renewable energy
•Multidisciplinary interest and the ability to link disciplines (energy, policy,
economics, technology)
Skills:
•Creative and innovative mindset
•Efficient and focussed
•Strong organisational capabilities, able to function autonomously as well as within
a team
•Good communication skills towards co-workers and clients.
•Fluent in English and Dutch; knowledge of additional languages is an asset
Location:
The offices are located near St Catherine (Brussels City Centre). You may regularly need
to commute in Flanders (few times per month).
