Structural Design Engineer - Main Structures Wind Turbines & Marine devices (based in Heerenveen, Netherlands), ref 1107-34

Travel Requirement: Occasional exchange with Bristol,UK office and international travel - overnight stays.

Role Purpose
Our client is the world's largest independent technical and engineering consultancy for renewable energy. Recognised as the global authority on onshore and offshore wind power and also serving the wave, tidal and solar sectors.

Working within the Mechanical Engineering team, this role involves both the design and structural analysis of the main structures of wind turbines and marine devices using 3D CAD software and Finite Element Analysis software.

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

Use of Finite Element Analysis at complex levels;
Regular use of hand calculations;
Design of wind turbine drive train and support frame components to achieve required function and strength;
Report writing;
Working independently and as part of an integrated team;
Working closely with the main office in Bristol (2-3 day visits every other month).

Person Specification:
To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following qualification, professional expertise and personal attributes:

Technical / Professional Expertise

Essential:
A master degree in mechanical or aeronautical engineering with structures content;
Skilled in use of a recent ANSYS version (version 10 or higher);
Knowledge of ANSYS programming language (APDL);
Proven record of structural analysis of wind turbines
Use of tools across a wide range of mechanical applications with the ability to apply knowledge to new, innovative wind turbine methods.

Desirable:
Experience with 3D CAD software;
Experience with ANSYS Workbench;
Experience of designing of structural components.
