Travel Requirement: Occasional travel, both nationally and internationally.

Role Purpose:
Our client is the world's largest independent technical and engineering consultancy for renewable energy. Recognised as the global authority on onshore and offshore wind power and also serving the wave, tidal and solar sectors.

The successful applicant will expand the resource and capabilities with regard to the design and specification of electrical networks, both within wind farms, and as part of the wider utility distribution and transmission systems.

The role will involve working with clients to undertake design work, produce specifications and perform due diligence.

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

Expanding the capabilities in wind farm design, and wider grid integration.
Liaising with a wide range of clients from wind farm developers to financial institutions.
Working on multiple projects, managing own time to meet deadlines.
Producing tender proposals (including technical and financial aspects).
Managing the project work to ensure delivery of the scope on time and budget.
Closing out the work, ensuring the client is satisfied with the work and has been appropriately invoiced.
Analysis of wind farm systems, including power flow, stability, harmonics, flicker, short circuit, voltage drop etc.
Analysing the impact of single or multiple farms on distribution and transmission level networks.
Design and specification of substation equipment including transformers, switchgear (AIS and GIS), filters, reactive compensation etc.
Design and specification of cabling and earthing systems.
Producing written reports and other documentation for delivery to the client.
Producing and delivering presentations to clients, and as part of commercial training courses.
Providing technical advice both directly to clients and to other parts of the group.
Liaising with industry suppliers, managing bidding processes and providing critical bid assessment.
Undertaking site inspections of electrical works, and witnessing Factory Acceptance Tests.
Performing due diligence for clients.
Supporting the continuous improvement of the electrical quality documentation.
Supervising and mentoring of staff.
Participate in R&D projects from time to time
Any other appropriate duties as directed by line management.

Person Specification:
To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following qualification, professional expertise and personal attributes:

Technical / Professional Expertise:
Working in a small, hard working and technical team, you will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to express yourself technically within the team and in front of clients



On appointment:
An appropriate degree/higher degree in Electrical and/or Electronic Engineering, or be able to demonstrate equivalent education, training and personal development.
Significant commercial experience undertaking the kind of work identified in section 2.
Experienced in the use of a electrical network analysis package, such as DIgSILENT.
Familiar with working to international standards, national rules and certification body requirements.
Good IT skills, and experience using MS Office suite packages.

Desirable:
Experience working within or directly liaising with the distribution or transmission network industry.
Commercial experience working within the renewables industry.
Previous experience of supervising/mentoring staff.
Previous experience of business development in a technical environment.
Membership of the IET or other body and chartered engineer status.
Health and Safety training.
Experience of working on site, particularly as an authorised person.
Ability to work in additional.
