Travel Requirement: Travel to the Netherlands office and Clients in Asia and America (over
night stays)
Role Purpose
Our client is the world's largest independent technical and engineering consultancy for
renewable energy and the recognised global authority on onshore and offshore wind power
and also serving the wave, tidal and solar sectors.
This new role involves both the design and structural analysis of the main structures of
wind turbines and marine devices using Finite Element Analysis software, ANSYS.
Key aspects of the work include:
Use of Finite Element Analysis at complex levels.
Regular use of hand calculations.
Design of hub, main frame and shaft to achieve required function and strength.
Report writing.
Working independently and as part of an integrated team.
Working closely with the Netherlands office (max 2-3 day visits every other month).
Attending review meetings with Clients in Europe, America and Asia
Person Specification:
To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following qualification,
professional expertise and personal attributes:
Technical / Professional Expertise:
Essential:
Experience of using one or more fatigue analysis software at complex or advanced levels.
At least an upper second class degree (or equivalent) in mechanical or aeronautical
engineering with structures content.
Proven record of structural analysis of wind turbines.
Use of tools across a wide range of mechanical applications with the ability to apply
knowledge to new, innovative wind turbine methods.
Desirable:
Experience with ANSYS Workbench.
Proficiency in a recent ANSYS version (version 10 or higher).
Knowledge of ANSYS programming language.
Experience of designing of structural components.
Competency Requirements:

Capable of working independently and as part of an integrated team.
Good organisational and effective time management skills.
Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with suppliers.
